How to Plan a
Wedding in Italy

by Lauren Hemmert  ·  Tuscany  ·  September 2025

why italy

The wedding your guests will talk about forever.

Italy was the first international trip Alex and I ever took together. So when it came time to plan our wedding, there was really only one answer. We got married in Impruneta, Tuscany, in September 2025 — 35 guests, five nights at a private villa, and a dinner under the stars that I'm still not over.

A destination wedding in Italy gives you something a domestic wedding almost never does: a week-long experience your guests actually want to show up for. The people who travel for you are the ones who really want to be there. And in Italy, the food alone is worth the flight.

But planning it from across an ocean, in a second language, with vendors you can't easily pop in on — that is a different kind of challenge. I spent months figuring it out. This guide is everything I wish I'd had.
